Microsoft Deployment Server (originally named Business Desktop Deployment) is a suite of tools, resources, documents, etc.. that bring together the analysis, planning and deployment of software into the network environment.

Presenters broke the work of this deployment concept into two functional categories:

• Light Touch Deployment
• Zero Touch Deployment

Helpful tools include:

• System Center Configuration Manager
• Deployment Toolkit Reference
• Deployment Workbench (search these two keywords on TechNet)
• SMS 2003 (prior version – for historical research)

Deployment Workbench is a FREE tool (30MB download) which comprises many tools to aid in deployment. The Deployment Workbench includes a task sequencing component which greatly simplifies the deployment of complex OS and software installations into your environment. Deployment workbench can deploy
